People Friendly Processes

in Business Travel

Hi, I’m Grazia Maria an Italian from Sicily.

Over the years I discovered how much I love improving things!

My mission is to develop the best-fit solutions to solve the problems organizations have in their non-core processes and activities. I aim at finding the perfect balance between the processes and the needs of the people, enabling employees to work in a streamlined manner, efficiently and with more satisfaction. My objective is to reduce the obstacles that make your non-core activities cumbersome and inefficient.

My solutions are robust and produce durable results. My unique approach, mixing traditional organizational tools like Lean and Organizational Design with more a modern approach based on Design Thinking, focuses on what the real problem is and to channel effort and attention on that. With early involvement of all stakeholders and identifying win-win solutions for all the parties, the project implementation is much quicker and so are your wins. I look at the end-to-end process (nothing is missed), deliver quick wins with long lasting results by setting up the mechanisms for a continuous improvement cycle.

Your employees can, then, focus on what is most important: your core business.

My Superpowers

My Super

Powers

Over the years I’ve worked on several projects ranging from policy redesign, cost optimization, process improvement in many non-core areas achieving benefits exceeding 5%-10%/year, through what I call “People friendly processes”.

\

No big long projects

But specific actions aiming at solving the pain points and addressing the real needs of the people involved.

\

Early involvement of all stakeholders

No key person is overlooked and they’re kept engaged through active participation to the process, which facilitates acceptance.

\

Better cost control and savings

\

Higher satisfaction and engagement of the employees

Solutions are widely accepted and get implemented quicker.

Nowadays: People Friendly Processes in Business Travel

Business Travel is an often overlooked company area resulting in wasted resources and unhappy people.  The many intertwined processes involved, have far reaching ramifications for the organization itself and for the employees. When writing travel policies and procedures the stress and sacrifice or personal time [which may lead to sick leaves, underperformance, etc] are not always taken into account. By developing Business Travel Solutions to effectively use resources, you get cost effective travel and happy employees.

How I got here

My love story with the way organizations and processes work dates back several years ago, when, as newly graduated, I joined Procter & Gamble in Rome and I could see all the theories I had studied coming to life in front of my eyes.

The love has never faded; rather it has been enriched with new meanings, tools and perspectives.

A short but intense experience in an Internet start-up (1999-2001) was then followed by a long period in Vodafone Italy, where I had my “first” AHA! moment.

Pushing boundaries

Professionally born as a Controller then mutated into a Procurement Manager, in my years in Vodafone I developed a passion for processes and efficiency. I also started to develop a broader understanding of the underlying “human” component of organizations and how this deeply influences the way organizations work and perform.

Being part of many change projects helped me to further hone my skills in the area adding to my robust analytical skills (yes: I find Excel sexy!!), project management skills  a full new dimension of cultural and organizational change management.

In the last years I pushed my boundaries further forward and added to my MSc Degree in Economics and Business from LUISS University in Rome, a certification in Project Management (Prince2), Change Manager (APMG International) and became a Design Thinking facilitator.
